About Us

Count the first nine stars you see on nine consecutive nights, and on the tenth day you will find your love…

Welcome to NineStar Press. We’re a boutique publisher of quality LGBTQA romance, erotica, and literary fiction, and we’re located in New Mexico, USA.

NineStar Press is an LGBTQA publisher owned and managed by LGBTQA people. We adore romance and erotic romance, but we also have an enormous interest in showcasing amazing literary works about characters less represented in fiction: ace, aro, trans*, nonbinary, genderfluid, bi, pan, etc. We also like genre-bending fiction, fusion genre, and stories that don’t quite fit into a particular category.

What do we want from this business? So much, more than we can fit on this page, but mostly this:

We want our authors to earn an income from writing. We want our authors to win awards. We want our readers to come back again and again, and we want them to know that when they pick up a NineStar Press book, they’re in for a great time. We want the business to expand and grow and open its doors to more niches and genres. We want a lot of things. But mostly, when it comes down to it, what we want is for everyone involved—from readers to authors to staff—to thoroughly enjoy everything about NineStar Press.

Our Amazing Team

Managing Director

Raevyn is a lover of books…just about any type. She is also Hispanic, panromantic, asexual, and genderqueer, which gives her a different view of the world around her. Her life-long goals have been to make a modest living doing something with books, visit Machu Picchu, and most importantly, build social consciousness in herself and others.

Pronouns: she/her

Cover Artist

Natasha Snow
Natasha Snow
Natasha is a sunlight-hating Canadian who loves cheese pizza, video games, and fluffy critters. She uses way too many exclamation marks in her e-mails, and values good typography in design. Most importantly, Natasha sleeps each night with a childhood stuffed animal named Puppy, and a rainbow alpaca named Cal Pacca.

Amanda Jean
Amanda Jean
Amanda Jean grew up devouring het romance novels and shifted to LGBT romance as a teen when her thirsty queer nature revealed itself. When she’s not wrangling manuscripts or co-hosting the queer romance podcast The Hopeless Romantic with Austin Chant, you can find her watching documentaries, reading too many books on true crime, and caring too much about fictional characters.
Barb is a semi-retired Pennsylvania transplant, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine of Florida. Reading is her passion, and other than the works of a few long time favorite authors, she pretty much exclusively reads MM romance. She also enjoys walking and playing with her little cockapoo named Dora.
Cora Walker is a Seattle area editor, writer, MFA student, and canon bisexual. She is currently tormenting her neighbors as she learns to play the violin.

Pronouns: she/her

Elizabeth C.
Elizabeth C.
Elizabeth Coldwell is a multi-published author and the former editor of the UK edition of Forum magazine, where she was responsible for publishing a number of now very well-known authors for the first time, as well as honing her own writing.

She lives in East London, is a season ticket holder at Rotherham United, and a keen cook. Her recipe for peanut butter brownies is available if you ask nicely…

I live in northern California, and I love to travel, sing, hike in the redwoods, and hang out with family. I’m a die-hard Giants fan. I’ve been known to yell choice language at the screen or car radio during a game.

One of my earliest childhood memories is of figuring out how to read, sounding out the word “Picnic” on an old movie poster. The word just sounded so cool and clicked in my mouth and conjured fun images. It’s why I love writing and editing— manipulating words to get them to do what we want. Word-nerd, that’s me; it’s been a life-long love affair.

I’m so happy to be part of the NineStar Press editing staff, helping to pass the passion on to others.

JasonEditor/Copy Editor
Jason has always been an avid reader and writer. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and now lives with his family in Forth Worth, Texas, where he works from home. For years he served as one of the moderators of the online Goodreads community in the M/M Romance group, helping to promote authors and books. Since 2011, he has worked at multiple publishers as both an editor and EIC, as well as releasing a book of his own, and feels he has found his dream job, being paid to read and write.
If there’s one thing you must know about Sam, it’s that she’s just a little bit weird – but in a totally balanced way. She’s a social activist with a love for animals and a master’s degree in helping people. She loves to read and write, and while she’s all for a sunshine at the end of the tunnel, she enjoys the bumpy journey that it takes to get there. Sam lives on the East Coast with her dog, and if there’s an animal nearby, she’s probably somewhere close too. Her favorite color is purple, and she believes that her job as an editor is to help an author make their story shine. Have questions? She doesn’t (usually) bite, so please feel free to send her an e-mail!
Sasha knows far too much about ravens and will certainly never shut up if you ask her about fandom. Best to avoid that. She will, however, go through your stories with a fine-tooth comb, and will wonder where the character development is even in short narratives. In fact, she’s probably at your home right now—rifling through your books and looking for fantasy or historical fiction—muttering to herself.

Copy Editors/Proofreaders

James L.
James L.Copy Editor
James Loke Hale is a transgender author of contemporary and speculative fiction. They live in the snowy wilds of Canada with their spouse, and can usually be found swearing at Fallout 4, endlessly redecorating their horror-themed office, and entertaining the various dog- and cat-shaped monsters who roam around their house. Visit them at www.jaylokehale.weebly.com, or follow them on Twitter as @jaylokehale to get the full immersive experience.
JenniferCopy Editor
Jenn is a bisexual writer and editor living in Knoxville, TN, on the edge of the Great Smokey Mountains, with her husband, their son, and their two retired greyhounds. She loves reading, writing, hiking, yoga, and cookies. Lots and lots of cookies.
JulieCopy Editor
Julie is a queer disabled creative who’s been editing for nearly a decade–first for love, and then for money. She’s passionate about stories that imagine the world differently, and has worked with authors, agents, and editors in both the traditional and independent publishing industries to bring those stories to life. She lives in Toronto with her excessively spoiled dog.
KristinCopy Editor
Kristin is a born-and-bred Midwestern American and devoted reader (and sometimes writer) of LGBTQA fiction. Her favorite things in the world are shoes, video games, and her bratty cat and grumpy hedgehog. Her least favorite are typos, places without Wi-Fi, and stealth onions in her food.
RoseCopy Editor
Based in the Seattle area, Rose is a queer freelance writer, editor, and proofreader who will never quit her day job, usually accompanied by a familiar in the form of an old lady cat. When not working, she can often be found translating manga (for fun) or studying (for school). If prompted she can talk your ears off about comic book aliens, K-pop, and bi/pansexual representation.
April fell in love with books the moment she read The Borrowers by Mary Norton. Reading brought the world to the small-town Ontario girl. It enabled her to travel safely through the jungles and swamps of South America, stroll the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris, through various time periods in British history without losing her head and gave her sleuthing abilities akin to those of Agatha Christie. She always has a book close at hand and can often be found tucked in her favourite chair with her shadow aka small fluffy black dog, and a cup of tea.
Elizabeth L.
Elizabeth L.Proofreader
Elizabeth is an Alabama native who is still coming to terms with her parents doing that to her. She spends most of her time binge watching things on Netflix, screaming about Gimli and Legolas’ friendship in Lord of the Rings, and scrounging through the film section at the local library.
Julia has never met a used bookstore she didn’t like. (Seriously, it’s kind of a chronic problem.) Work-wise, she is a writer, editor, reviewer, adjunct professor, social media manager, and about six other things, but she enjoys fiction-related projects most. Other faves include black-and-white monster movies, red wine, and baseball (go Orioles!). She lives in Maryland, not very far from the Chesapeake Bay, with her family and two cats.
Sera Trevor has been a fan of gay romance from probably too early an age. (You know those buttons on certain websites that you have to click to verify you’re over eighteen? She would totally click them before she was eighteen. Please don’t tell her parents.)

She lives in California with her laptop, Kindle, and several hundred books. Also, she has some kids and a husband.

Marketing / Promotions / Quality Assurance

Barb is a semi-retired Pennsylvania transplant, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine of Florida. Reading is her passion, and other than the works of a few long time favorite authors, she pretty much exclusively reads MM romance. She also enjoys walking and playing with her little cockapoo named Dora.
AlisonQuality Assurance
It is common knowledge to all who know her that Alison needs to ingest at least two cups of coffee–strong and black–and the sun needs to be midway through its arc before she can truly be considered human. Though she tries to live a relatively quiet existence in northern New England, her family and three cats usually have different plans. When she is not working her RL job or reading obsessively, she enjoys crocheting while watching movies, usually something “geeky” like Star Wars or Star Trek.
